4.1. 1. Software Prerequisites

 
Before installing and running the ChronoScan Web Server please make sure you have all the prerequisites listed below:
 
  • Internet connection: required to activate the licenses and by the ChronoScan installer, which checks your maintenance status online;
     
  • Download the latest installers here;
  • Both the ChronoScan Desktop installer and the ChronoScan Web Server installer are required on the server;
     
  • Supported operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, or Windows Server 2016 or newer (64-bit recommended);
  • See the Minimal System Requirements for the complete list of supported systems and hardware;
     
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8;
  • Already included in Windows 11, Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 version 1903 or later. On other systems download it from Microsoft;
     
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2022 Redistributable;
  • Installed automatically by the ChronoScan installer when it is missing;
     
  • SQL Server 2016 or newer (any edition; SQL Server Express is enough for small installations):
  • Download from Microsoft Web Site;
  • Make sure the SQL Server Management Studio is also installed.
     
  • Nuance OCR Plug-In (separate installer, use the same 32-bit or 64-bit version as ChronoScan):
  • Download the 32-bit Nuance Plug-In installer here;
  • Download the 64-bit Nuance Plug-In installer here;
  • Install it after ChronoScan Desktop;
     
  • Follow the instructions here for the license activation;
     
  • Sample Data:
  • If you have received a sample data archive file, decompress it to your %programdata%/ChronoScan folder and restore the database file to your SQL Server (this step replaces the SQL Server Database creation and Convert to WCI steps).
